Community Service Project

78's Top 40th

For our upcoming 40th Reunion, '78 is taking a new approach to Community Service! Together with '83, our respective "child" classes ('03 and '08), and '13 (which joined us in the Senior and Senior Citizens United talent show at our 35th), we have created a project that every '78er attending Reunions can participate in meaningfully and that will fit into everyone's schedule.

Thursday, May 31, 2018 (in Newark):

Building Project: Thursday in Newark: Get to know young adults who dropped out of  high school and who, thanks to YouthBuild Newark (http://www.youthbuildnewarknj.org/about-us/overview/), are now rebuilding their lives and communities as you help them build affordable housing in their own neighborhoods. Learn about how they are earning their high school equivalency degree while you do.

Other projects being planned involve Hetrick-Martin NJ and the AIDS Resource Foundation for Children/St. Clare’s Housing.

Friday, June 1, 2018 (on Princeton's campus):

Food for Families:  Working  in the nation’s service, help assemble meals that will be be distributed to local and national families in need. Give a few hours of your time to help others while working shoulder to shoulder with other Princetonians from different classes.

Donations of Household Goods: Donate household items to help YouthBuild's young adults receive the basic items they need to support their daily lives and current living situation.

Panel discussion: Share our Community Service experience with other Princetonians as we show how we designed, developed, planned, communicated, and participated in bringing four Princeton classes together in search of a more connected and rewarding Community Service project that we hope will inspire each returning alumn to find the best Community Service opportunity for them.

January – May, 2018:

Serve in Your Community: Watch this space to learn more about the ‘mini’ Community Service projects in cities and towns across the country we are developing. Help and serve others close to your home or office.

We need your help, please: After all, when we see our hands doing the work of our hearts, expect a miracle!

Please find the best and right Community Service opportunity for you listed above and sign-up to help us make a difference before, during, and after our 40th Reunion.
